"I was sitting in Starbucks studying when all of a sudden these dudes started playing music outside the window and all these people started mobbing around them," explained UCLA student and LAist contributor Henry David. "I was like zoits 'it's the Kooks!'"

And so it began: The Kooks invaded Westwood after an unannounced stop in Venice. About 150 people packed out in front of the Village Theatre as the famous band pulled up like rockstars in a caddy. The concert almost didn't happen at one point, though, when a security guard questioned if they had permits. They did and so the concert began. But then it was time to go play a sidewalk set elsewhere, so The Kooks began to walk and fans followed them all the way to Delta Tau Delta where the band played four songs to an even larger crowd. "It was wild," LAist photographer Tom Andrews said "Even some of them were climbing walls out of bushes to see the show." Then after some photos with fans, they left in their caddy, only to reappear at the Kibitz Room at Canter's Deli later last night.

The sidewalk sets were produced by Den of Thieves with Jesse Ignjatovic in the lead. LAist photographer Tom Andrews was there to follow them around, save for the Venice show, which not even the record label seemed to know about. They play on Jimmy Kimmel tonight.
