Shortly before 11 a.m. last Saturday morning, a man with an automatic rifle opened fire, wounding three, at St. John Baptist de La Salle Roman Catholic Church's International Festival in Granada Hills. The man was then held by an off-duty cop and two other festival patrons before police arrived to make an arrest.

What happened? "We have a parent who apparently has a restraining order, and he came in kissed his son and pulled an assault rifle out and shot three people,'' one person told ABC7. One of the victims is his ex-girlfriend.

Yesterday, Fernando Diaz Jr., 33, was charged with three counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a firearm and a felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon (he has two prior felony convictions). His bail is $7.2 million.
