Restaurant Updates -- Ramsay and Keller in LA?

thomas%20keller%20AP.jpg We already know that Gordon Ramsay is on his way to LA -- and despite his made-for-reality-TV personality, the guy can also really cook. Ramsay's opening his first restaurant on the West Coast in the next few weeks -- dinner service is scheduled to begin May 27th, while full service begins the following day (the reservation line is open, if you want to try your luck). The restaurant, a part of the London West Hollywood hotel, will feature a "Western European with subtle Asian influence" menu -- and expect lots of emphasis on local ingredients like California lobster, Sonoma lamb, and West Coast halibut.

But if Ramsay isn't enough for you -- EaterLA is also digging up rumors that famed chef Thomas Keller, he of the legendary French Laundry in Yountville, as well as Per Se in NYC, may be opening his own L.A. outpost soon. One of EaterLA's readers reported: "Was invited to the kitchen and managed to get the following info while in there. The next Thomas Keller restaurant will be in LA. He was meant to have looked at Hong Kong, Washington, Scottsdale. Apparently the LA restaurant will be similar to Bouchon, but tailored more to the LA lifestyle (I guess similar to what Ramsay is doing??)."

Tailored to the LA lifestyle? Bouchon features a fairly traditional French menu (avec huitres and beaucoup de steak frites, bien sur!), so we'll see how that pans out. But what foodie in L.A. wouldn't give their right arm for a chance to enjoy Keller in our own backyard? We'll keep dreaming until more details leak out....
