  • A tour bus that originated at the Fox Hills Mall in Culver City and operated by a Glendale-based company overturned on Interstate 40, killing one occupant and injuring several others. The bus was en route to Laughlin, Nevada, and the accident took place near Ludlow, CA.
  • A 19-year-old Downey man has been arrested in the deaths of two 25-year-olds Friday evening. The man and woman had been pinned to a metal fence by the suspect's vehicle.
  • Although not happening here, it's certainly worth mentioning: Senator Edward (Ted) Kennedy is recovering in the hospital after suffering a seizure. The 76-year-old was airlifted from his home and taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.
  • From the "Dirty Old Man" files: A 53-year-old ex-LAPD cop has been charged with possessing child porn. The charges come a year after he was caught taking photos of a 5-year-old girl at the Strawberry Festival, and more than 100 other photos were found on his home computer.
  • How does Dennis Rodman celebrate a birthday, release from rehab, and having domestic abuse charges filed against him? Do we need to ask?
  • If you want to catch Stevie Wonder at the Hollywood Bowl this July 7th, losanjealous reminds us that tickets go on sale tomorrow morning.
  • Now that it's a blistering near-100 degrees out, it might be too hot to think ramen, but food blog Ritz Bites tempts us nonetheless with a reminder that LA has some of the best darn ramen joints around.
  • Just how hot was it? Record highs for May 17 were set in Long Beach (89), UCLA (92), Woodland Hills (102) and LAX (89). Downtown L.A. hit 96 degrees, matching the high temp on this day in 1892!

Thats just nuts... I was out this morning around 930am and it was already 98 degrees in the Valley. I can only imagine what the record is for here. Maybe something like a billion degrees or something.
