LAist: Fresh & Easy to Sherman Oaks?

Hi, I am a sutdent studying MSC Marketing at University of Birmingham(England). Now I am working on my dissertation which is about Fresh&Easy in America. I happen to KNOW what's going in there, but it's not what you're thinking... "Fresh" is definitely a clue...

That would be an interesting development. That Pavilions is strangely icky for being Von's supposed "upscale" cousin (at least, that's what I thought Pavilions was before moving near one). I would still be able to walk to Whole Foods at that location, albeit slightly further, but would Fresh and Easy be a good addition to my neighborhood or not? I can't tell. A Whole Foods with a decent-sized parking lot would be nice as well, especially if it's not half a block from where I live anymore. As would a Trader Joe's with the same. I heard the Van Nuys location not working out had something to do with people objecting to "over-saturation of liquor licenses in the Los Angeles community." F&E apparently didn't get a liquor license for the location. Would things be different in Sherman Oaks since it's not as poor an area of LA?

About a year ago I was complaining to the Deli Manager in Pavilions about the quality of the Ventura Blvd location compared to all the others.I was told at that time that they had plans to expand it and an agreement was in the works for them to take over the parking lot on the east side of the building which is currently an overflow lot for a car dealership.No clue if this is true but a girl can hope!

I started out really loving Freasy. I would go several times a week since the Hollywood location is only a couple blocks away from where I live. The more I've gone, I've realized that the 'fresh' produce expires extremely fast, it's not really any cheaper than other grocery stores and the options are very very limited. I'll probably start going back to Ralphs or Trader Joe's, I'd rather spend a little more to have true fresh produce and options.
