I think we should distinguish between purposeful invocations of the creepy like "Every Breath You Take" or "Alison" (or Costello's "I Want You") and the songs in which the songwriter seems unaware of how creepy he is being. Say, Gino Vanelli's "Mama Coco" "I love you mama coco Mama coco such anticipation Mama coco mam you're blowin' my mind Mama coco I'm just a male caucasian Mama coco I'm virgin to your kind Now don't get paranoid I ain't a horny little mongoloid All I wanna have is a little bit of love and joy" [Now I'd like to object to the Tom Reynold's use of a "pimply kid with Asperger's" as the object of derision. 1) Let's not make fun of those with disabilies, even social disabilities (it is part of what makes "Mama Coco" so awful); and 2) Mayer's song would be better if it actually was about a kid with Asperger's. -- sign me Oversensitive Parent.]

"...didn't Sting also say that it was actually ABOUT a stalker?" That rings a bell. The whole album (Synchronicity) was dark and creepy. "Murder By Numbers," "Wrapped Around Your Finger," "O My God," "King of Pain." Yeah, it was never really the go-to for warm and fuzzy and kissy-faced.

I can't beat "Tonight's the Night" but Foreigner's "Hot Blooded" is pretty much the douchebag anthem of all time. For the record, Sting always maintained that "Every Breath You Take" was not a love song, and said he was freaked out himself when couples would describe it to him as "their song."

Let us not forget the lovely, melodic "Allison" by Elvis Costello. About a girl, pregnant, who may or may not have gotten so by Mr C... "My aim is true..." is not a loving sentiment but rather, quite literal in intent. Or so I've heard. I'd say that falls into the category of ...creepy.
