There is so much cool stuff opening this Saturday!

The remarkable artist, Jerome Witkin will be in attendance for the opening of his new exhibit, Revelations in Drawing at Jack Rutberg.

Witkins masterful paintings have been hailed by critics and artists alike. His technical skills compared to the likes of Goya and Lucien Freud. The Smithsonian & the MET both have works of his!

This latest feast of drawings including the 6-foot Vincent and Death depicting Van Gogh meeting his end will most definitely be a very popular show. – thru July 31st

A few blocks away from the Witkin exhibit, Subliminal Projects is opening New Works by Deedee Cheriel and Louise Bonnet. Incorporating both of their influences of pop culture imagery, graphic design, and punk rock, the artists complement each other well in this group showing. - thru June 13th

Speaking of punk rock, you can work up your anger as you trek out to the 909 for the opening of Vexing: Female Voices From East L.A. Punk at the Claremont Museum of Art.

A celebration of the punk scene precedent in East L.A in the late 70’s, Vexing is a tribute to the “O.G” ladies of the movement. Encompassing years of photos, video, painting, performance and more. Saturday night festivities include performances by Teresa Covarrubias, Angela Vogel, Lysa Flores, and Alice Bag.

Accompanying the Vexing exhibit is artist Zoe Crosher’s presentation of The Reconsidered Archive of Michelle du Bois, documenting a woman before her time and decades before MySpace.

Dubois traveled all over the Pacific Rim in the swingin’ AIDS free 70’s and early 80’s & took picture of herself everywhere. Cataloging a jet-setting lifestyle at the height of the sexual liberation movement. - thru August 31st

The Department of Cutural Affairs is proud to present the works of 15 artists who were awarded City of L.A. (C.O.L.A.) Individual Artist Fellowships. Barnsdall Parks Municipal Art Gallery will host the exhibit, and offer a dialogue series, along with scheduled performance art pieces.
