It's been nearly 30-days since the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors passed a law that will severely affect taco trucks in unincorporated parts of the county. Trucks can park for 60-minutes, but after that, they face high fines and even jail time if they do not move to another location.

Within a moments notice of hearing about the new law, two Occidental alumni with a penchant for taco trucks began a movement complete with a catchy "Carne Asada is Not a Crime" slogan. Saveourtacotrucks.org, a blog and petition has received over 8,000 signatures in support of asking the county to reverse their decision. So far, no luck. And tomorrow, the new law goes into effect.

To that, the boys behind the website are hosting an event tonight. "We’re doing another event this Wednesday night to celebrate/mourn the last night of legal tacos in East Los Angeles," Aaron Sonderleiter wrote in an e-mail. "We will be at Tacos El Galuzo at 5555 Whittier Blvd. starting around 8 PM. We hope to really shine the spotlight on the people most affected by the new ordinance as starting at midnight, they will have to move every hour or risk the misdemeanor offense."

Also: LAist reader Peter S. went on a taco hunt last night and couldn't find what he should have found. Here's what he wrote below, make what you make of it:

So tonight I was craving Taco Zone...by 8:30pm, nowhere to be found. The one on Echo Park Blvd. also nowhere to be found. Even that Christian place, Mariela's (with all the god talk on the store windows, not a taco truck) was closed...which was odd...maybe its a solidarity thing? Maybe its something worse (health inspector??? only speculation here)? Finally ended up at the place on Larga at Fletcher, which is not a truck but a "camp site" sort of thing...wasn't bad...but definitely paled in comparison to the Taco Zone (but so would anything). ~ Peter S.
