Cooking with a Household Iron: Culinary Sites Offer Exciting New Features

We will always rely on old standbys like Chowhound, but there are plenty of new happenings on the cyber-epicurian scene lately.

Roadfood, a concept launched by Jane and Michael Stern, focuses on truckstops, diners, and the independent restaurants that preserve regional American food. Roadfood.com, whose forums boast a faithful and active following, has just launched a new feature. The Roadfood Digest is a communal blog (much like LAist) that will keep you up-to-date on foodie events and news, as well as offering features on the best mustard for that hot dog, and whether or not chili should have beans.

Epicurious now offers a weekly menu planner that features their gourmet recipes, seasonal ingredients, and even a shopping list to make meal-planning more convenient.

BooRah has recently started expanding their site. BooRah combines the pithiness of Yelp with the searchability of Citysearch and voting abilities of Digg. If you don't want to write a review, you can give restaurants a quick Boo! or a Rah! You can also post and read user reviews, as well as a collection of reviews from other websites.

Ireland-based iFoods.tv has launched a site for food bloggers to share photos, recipes and videos. There is also a blog, a forum and a comprehensive list of every food blog in the entire world. For Benny and Joon fans, check out the videos for a refresher course in cooking with an iron.
