Actually the five most recent consecutive Speakers of he California State Assembly -- Antonio Villaraigosa, Robert Hertberg, Herb Wesson, Fabian Nunez and now Karen Bass were all Angeleno assemblymembers, whose districts included areas in Los Angeles city limits. It's proof of the influence this City has now in state politics.

Pringle last served in 1996 - 12 years ago - and even if he did count as Los Angeles representative, San Joaquin Valley assemblymember Cruz Bustamante succeeded him and broke the streak.

Aww - my old boss Karen Bass, I helped her build the technology resource center at Community Coalition for Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment(CCSAPT) down there in South Central. I forgot how much of a handful that title was.

I haven't been involved with them since 1999, but if you feel like helping out a non-profit, http://ccsapt.org/
