Whose Cupcakes Will Take the Cake?

CupcakeChallengePrewrite2.jpgThe first annual Cupcake Challenge on May 18th will put the lip-smacking in a foodie smackdown. In this event sponsored by CozmoDeck, Fiji Water, and K and L Wine Merchants, 13 of the best local cupcake bakeries--cupcakeries, if you will--are putting on their oven mitts and throwing down the best they have to offer in the hopes of determining whose cupcake is the tops in town.

The event is open to the public, because you will be the judges! Sample tastes of all the cupcakes you can handle, along with a dozen varietals of wine, and have your say in determining whose cupcakes truly take the cake. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. The Cupcake Challenge kicks off a summer-long series of local foodie events.

You'll be tasting cupcakes from: Yummy Cupcakes, Vanilla Bake Shop, Milk, Famous Cupcakes, Hotcakes, Lucky Devils, The Oinkster, Violet's Cakes, Babycakes, My Little Cupcake, Lark, Essential Chocolate Desserts, and Mrs. Beasley's.

Elise and I have collectively eaten way over $60 worth of cupcakes and I continue my "independent testing" when I can. The only problem with that many at once is your tongue just gets numb from all the sugar and you can't tell the difference!
