Arthur Magazine presents a “Folk Americana” Thursday night series at the Silent Movie Theatre. The films shown will trace the roots of American folk music and the singers, songwriters and musicologists who passed the tradition on from generation to generation. Tonight’s screening is Alan Lomax: Songhunter, focusing on the collecting work of Lomax who is most famous for his recordings from the deep South from the 1930s-50s at penitentiaries, plantations and farms of the Mississippi Delta.
