RV Parking Restrictions Begin Today

RV Parking Restrictions in Los AngelesLiving in an RV in San Pedro just got a little harder, at least for the next 30 days. Councilwoman Janice Hahn announced a new pilot program making it harder for RVs to park in the "designated RV restriction district in South San Pedro." New street signs installed state that no parking will be allowed for oversized vehicles between the hours of 2:00 and 6:00 a.m.

“These oversized vehicles cause neighborhood blight and present safety concerns to local residents,” said Councilwoman Hahn in a statement. “This pilot program, if successful, will be spread city-wide.”

The district, which runs along Western Avenue to the western city boundary of San Pedro, goes into effect today, but parking enforcement officers will only issue warnings through Friday. On Saturday, citations will be issues for oversized vehicles not displaying a permit, which can be obtained at $10 a day for a max of three days.

Back in January, an LAist reader asked about "those pesky RVs." LAist writer Mr. Los Angeles forewarned about the pilot program coming to the harbor area. Additionally, parking restrictions for RVs in Brentwood began within the last two months.
