Pencil This In: Monday (Cinco de Mayo Edition)

Polaroids and Cinco de Mayo

Yes, it's Cinco de Mayo, and nearly every bar we can think of is having some sort of fiesta. But here are a few other options for tonight if tequila slammers don't quite fit into your schedule:

FILM
Today marks the New Beverly Cinema's 30th year in business – and this month’s calendar is a show-for-show replication of the New Beverly’s 1978 debut calendar. The double bill tonight are Sci-Fi classics Soylent Green with Charleton Heston and Westworld with Yul Brenner, about a Wild West amusement park exhibits start killing off visitors.

7:30 pm Soylent Green and Westworld 9:30 pm // New Beverly Cinema // 7165 W. Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles // $7

POLAROID PARTY*
GarageComedy.com celebrates a few things tonight at El Cid besides Cinco de Mayo. It’s partying in honor of its four-year anniversary and the fact that Polaroid is phasing out its instant film this year, too. So bring your Polaroid camera and/or 600 film and get ready to have some fun. Comedy and drink specials abound.

9pm // El Cid // 4212 W Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles // No cover.

NETWORKING
Dealmaker LA is hosting a networking event at MTV Networks in Santa Monica. They’re hosting more than 300 leading tech startups, founders, developers, investors and industry execs for networking and mingling. And drinking.

6 pm // MTV// 2600 Colorado Blvd., Santa Monica // $45 at the door.

VEGANS GO BOWLING
Jax Vegan Cafe hosts “The Big Veg-Bowski Bowling Night” at Lucky Strike tonight. Vegan Shaggcakes (cupcakes) will be provided for bowlers.

7 pm // Lucky Strike Hollywood // 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles // $11.

COMEDY
Adult Swim’s first live-action sketch variety show—Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! —takes the stage tonight and tomorrow. Created by and stars Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, the live show is a mix of live segments and video. Tonight’s show is sold out, but a few tickets will be available at the door. Tickets are still available for tomorrow night.
.
8 pm // Echoplex // 1154 Glendale Blvd., L.A. // $17 ($20 at the door).
