Ah, your shopping consultant beat me to it, as those were the exact two places I had in mind!

Agreed that any mall these days is a lame excuse for a tourist destination (oh, except maybe the Mall of America in MN and the West Edmonton Mall only because they have amusement parks et al inside, but STILL, they are MALLS filled with the same stores found ALL OVER THE WORLD AND ONLINE).

My shopping consultant advises me that both the expanded Topanga Plaza and the Northridge Fashion Center might very well be considered "mega-malls", so, um... never mind.

(They still strike me as rather dubious tourist destinations, but then, so does The Grove, so I'm probably just being weird again.)

Is there any reason why tourism should be a big draw in the Valley, besides movie locations and mega-malls?Wait. We have "mega-malls" in the Valley? Where?

Personally, I think of the Valley's malls as mostly small-to-medium size. I tend to think of places like South Coast Plaza or the Glendale Galleria or Ontario Mills or Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamongs as "mega-malls".

But since I rarely go to malls, maybe I'm just overlooking something.
