Pencil This In: Wednesday
CLASSICAL
This event reminds us of those old-time dance marathons, but this time it’s USC’s Thornton School students testing their endurance by playing seven hours of nonstop chamber music a night. Tonight’s the last night of the Chamber Music Marathon.
5 pm to midnight // Alfred Newman Recital Hall // USC University Park Campus // Free.

MUSIC DOCUMENTARY*
There’s a double feature at the Academy’s Linwood Dunn Theater of documentaries. The U.S. vs. John Lennon captures a time in American history when a president and the U.S. government (wasted their time and our money) to “wage a covert war against the world’s most popular musician.” Following is Leonard Cohen I’m Your Man, that celebrates the life and work of the talented songwriter. His “Hallelujah” gets to me every time.
7 pm // Linwood Dunn Theater //1313 N. Vine St., Los Angeles // Free.
DOCUMENTARY
AFI’s holding its 7th annual Music Documentary Series and tonight it screens Cachao: Uno Mas -- a portrait of Afro-Cuban musician Israel Lopez ("Cachao"). The 68-minute documentary will be followed by a Q&A with producer Andy Garcia.
8 pm // ArcLight Hollywood// 6360 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles // $12.
THEATRE
Park Your Car in Harvard Yard (translation for Beantown natives: “Pahk yer cahr where the Tasty ustah be”) is Israel Horovitz’s tour de force for two actors. An aging teacher – who was a meanest sonofabitch that ever taught at Gloucester High – hires a housekeeper. But the old guy doesn’t remember that he basically flunked her and her entire family. He’s a crotchety Harvard-educated Jewish bachelor with no family; she’s vindictive with a large working class Irish family. But somehow they reach a détente. Low-priced previews continue tonight.
8 pm // International City Theatre @ the Long Beach Performing Arts Center // 300 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach // $29.
MiNDSHARE
Learn a little something from guest speakers while noshing on appetizers and drinking beer. Mindshare -- a monthly meeting of diverse minds -- takes place tonight with confirmed speakers: Jenka Gurfinkel / The Do Lab: Creating Culture; Josh Berka / The Heart Speaks: Coherence, Light and Resonance; Doug Campbell / Northern Vietnam Tribe Hopping - In a Tuxedo; Everard Williams / Exposure TV: Photographers with a Philanthropic Focus; and Amely Greeven / Vedic Meditation and The Art of Conscious Living. Music from special guest TLark. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
8 pm // Top Loft at the Brewery // 676 S. Avenue 21, #400, Los Angeles // $25.

I posted a comment regarding what I'm about to say yesterday to the the Nerdster post as the comments were disabled for yesterday's "Pencil This In," but could you please put these out earlier?
They're a wonderful collection of events to look forward to (especially since they aren't covered by most other blogs or publications), but I live in the Long Beach area and I rarely see these in time to do anything about them (make places, reservations, etc).
Earlier notice would be a bigger help for readers, in general.
Again, I thoroughly love and appreciate your work and effort in spreading the word. And thank you for that.
