Weekend Art Openings: Duchamp, Childhood, Miller
Friday
Forty-five years ago, a small museum in Pasadena garnered an exhibit of the modern art forefather's first retrospective. Beginning today, that small museum, now known as the Norton Simon, is presenting Marcel Duchamp Redux.
The installation will display several works owned by the Norton Simon including Boite-en-Valise (some of the artists works reproduced in miniature), The Bottle Rack, and L.H.O.O.Q, his famous poster of Mona Lisa with moustache & goatee, which was embraced by the Dada movement.
Memorabilia from the original 1963 exhibit, including photos of the artist during his visit to Pasadena will also be on view. - thru December 8th

Boite-en-Valise is amazing. I saw it at the Hammer last year.
