Dodgers Lose to DBacks 6-4: Some Photos.
Andre Ethier gets hit by a pitch.
There are very few days in my life when I actually wish I were rich, but today happened to be one of those days. My sister scored us field level seats behind home plate, which are a world of difference from our season seats in reserve level. As luck would have it, every time someone gives me amazing seats, the Dodgers lose. Every single time I've sat in the Dugout Club they've lost. Every time I've sat on field level behind home plate, they've lost. Someone up there seems to think I don't deserve to have a good view of the field. Fine. I get it now.
Besides the view, this was the first time I've sat in field level since they renovated in the off-season. The concourse is like a Westfield mall now, all white and clean and expensive looking. You can get Canters and Mrs. Beasleys, and the condiment dispensers are made of stainless steel. There are Dyson super hand dryers in the restrooms. It's a whole new ballgame down there.
We sat there in the lap of luxury and watched quite a game. Billingsley struck out a career high 12 batters, but still gave up 5 earned runs to maintain his record of 0 wins. One batter from each team scored on a wild pitch, which always makes for a good time. Jeff Kent got extremely angry after a runner was called safe at second, as Kent felt certain that he'd touched the bag for a force, and got tossed a few innings later (as did Joe Torre, who came to his defense). In the end, the Dodgers lost 6-4, splitting one of those weird 2 game series things with the DBacks. The Colorado Rockies will be at Dodger Stadium Fri-Sun. See you there.
More in the photos:
all photos by malingering, who was so happy to sit behind home plate she almost forgot about how that stupid net makes the photos blurry

I have to ask, do those parmesan bleu cheese fries rival the bleu cheese fries at Pete's Bar & Grill downtown?

I just want to say that the best dodger dog is the all-beef super in its grilled glory--it is far superior to the regular dodger dog and only $0.75 more.
and i had the garlic fries on the loge level on wednesday and they sucked, but i had them for the red sox game on the field level and they were awesome so its nice to know that its all moving upward and better.

Matzo ball soup?? Parmesan blue cheese fries?!?!?!! God, I'm coming out there for a game, just for the food!
I have to admit though - the smiley face on the Dodger Dog sign was creepin' me out.
Rockies on the weekend, huh? That should be more like practice for you guys with the way they've been playing lately. ;-)

it was my first game of the season (finally). field level too although not dugout club. i wondered at some point during the game if you were in attendance even though you are a mystery to me. i guess that was a yes. i could have been a part of the bad luck, my cumulative record there over the years skews to more losses than wins. it sucks but i gotta see my boys in blue!

Let's hope Torre brings the Dodgers to the playoffs or even the World Series. If he can't improve this team then I feel like the Steinbrenners were right to let him go. Although this is early and everyone has losses early on but it is definitely something to watch out for.

I don't know about being able to read tri-tip sliders on that board, but the one thing that does come across clearly to me... $10 beer! :(

man ... how much did you spend on food? Anyway, I love your pictures. Can't get enough of them. Hope you get back to posting them on flickr again. The fries look good. I wanted to get some a few games back, but my friend is anti-blue cheese. The bundt cake looks even better!
