LA Lakers defeat Denver Nuggets 122-107. Kobe Bryant showed his MVP colors scoring 49 points to go along with 10 assists. Despite that, the Lakers are starting to play with fire. With a defense as porous as a sieve and complacency of taking bad perimeter shots against a weak zone, the Lakers got away with one. True the Lakers got the win, but it should have been a more dominant showing. It didn't help Lamar Odom scored only four points sitting out most of the second half due to foul trouble. While it might not affect them in this series, these mental lapses can cost them in the second round series against the Utah Jazz. The Lakers lead the series against the Nuggets 2-0.

LA Dodgers defeat Arizona Diamondbacks 8-3. I don't understand the Dodgers. Some games they will hit miserably being lucky just to score one run. Then there are games like tonight when they step on the throats of the opposition. It's still early in the season, so I'll reserve judgment for now. Derek Lowe pitched five superb innings giving up only one run but left early due to tightness in his right elbow. He is expected to make his next start against the Cubbies.

LA Angels defeat Boston Red Sox 6-4. The Angels sure got lucky again. The flu bug that sidelined Josh Beckett Tuesday night got ahold of Daisuke Matsuzaka forcing Jon Lester to start after three days rest. The Angels got four solo homers, two by Gary Matthews Jr, and Jon Garland (3-2) pitched six innings giving up all four runs. Francisco Rodriguez notched his eighth save of the season pitching a perfect ninth issuing one strikeout.

Notable Notes

In an unprecedented deal in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans agreed in principle for a deal sending suspended cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones to the Cowboys for a fourth round pick. If Jones is not reinstated to the NFL, the Cowboys get the Titans' fourth round pick in next year's draft. Jones will give up his 2005 bonus of $1.25 million from the Titans and will sign a no-guarantee four-year deal with the Cowboys. This is the first time in NFL history a trade for a suspended player has happened.

After some uncertainty following the first round dismissal from the Stanley Cup playoffs, Anaheim Duck's general manager Brian Burke agreed to stay on the job for another year. Under Brian Burke, the Ducks have been to the playoff in each of his three years climaxing with the Stanley Cup last year.

Dodger Stadium will continue to be a construction zone. Later today the Dodgers will announce plans for transforming the area behind the pavilion area into a promenade area building restaurants and a shopping area. Included are plans for two parking garages. Though official numbers aren't out, the cost for this project is estimated at $500 million by the Mayor's office. More on this later.
