Last night the El Rey Theater was host to British music magazine NME's first US awards. You can find the list of award winners at Twisted Ear, since it seems like the sudden attention has crashed NME's website. For a recap of the awards show, check out MOG.
I was all about the red carpet! For those of you who have read my bio, you know it has been one of my life's goals to meet Alice Cooper. While we won't be having tea anytime soon, I can cross that one off my list. Check out my red carpet adventures along with the photos, and stay tuned for more coverage of the most spectacular entrance of the night.
But by now, Alice was about 4 people down from me. I screamed, "Alice!" But 20 other people were screaming, "Alice!" so I screamed "Vincent!" He whipped his head around and looked me in the eye. I said, "I'm Elise!!!" and he said, "Hi" kind of perplexed. I said, "I just wanted to say I met you." Then he stared at me for a long time. Because it was strange behavior amongst the "professionals". There were probably 10 good questions I have always wanted to ask him about his music, but as he stared at me, it was like when the manatee at Sea World swim right up to you. It was mesmerizing. So the 12-year old girl in me yelled, "I LOVE YOU!!!" and all of the paparazzi stopped screaming, "Alice! Alice! Alice! and they all started screaming, "SHE LOVES YOU!!!" It was one of the greatest moments of my life. (Elise Thompson)

This is so great! Wow, Mick Jones is looking rough. I met Paul Simonon last year and he's still got it! ;) The post-punk vs. new wave part is priceless.

A few photogs assumed that was his girlfriend, and he kind of took offense at their lasciviousness.
