Watch those mailboxes, people are stealing. Reported by a representative of City Councilman Jack Weiss last night at a Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council meeting, homes in the hills of Sherman Oaks (you know, "south of the boulevard," as they say) are falling victim to mail theft. And while the immediate concern is ID theft, what is happening is that checks are being whited in the name field out and cashed by the thieves. Come tax rebate time, better hope your box has a lock!
