One More Day of Heat

heatwave34.jpgYesterday was a scorcher. If you went to a farmers market, the festival in Thai Town or just stayed home, you knew that already. Records were broken this weekend with temperatures recorded at LAX in the mid 90s. Up in the northwest Valley, it hit 97.

As for today and the rest of the week, "temperatures will drop slightly along the coast and more steeply inland," reported the Daily News. "And by Tuesday, the high should be in the 60s, making it the coolest day of the week, said Bonnie Bartling, weather specialist for the National Weather Service in Oxnard."

Meanwhile, the LA Times' online edition lead story talks up global warming's "new battleground," coal plants: "Coal puts twice as much temperature-raising carbon dioxide into the atmosphere as natural gas, second to coal as the most common power plant fuel."
