LA Dodgers defeat San Diego Padres 11-1. The Dodgers continue to win against San Diego pitchers not named Peavy. For what seems like the first time this season, the Dodgers were able to consistently string hits together to get more than one run to score in an inning. Padres started Chris Young couldn't get ahead of any hitter, and Derek Lowe did what he does best: the sinker to induce ground outs retiring 20 of his last 21 hitters. Hopefully the Dodgers can get something going from this.

Seattle Mariners defeat LA Angels 8-3. Did someone order a Richie Sexson sighting? He inexplicably hit a two run homer to break a tie in the sixth inning. The story of the night however was Mariners starter Carlos Silva who went eight innings gave up three runs and 11 hits. Silva was saved by the double plays. Angels starter Jon Garland wasn't as lucky going 5 1/3 innings giving up 12 hits and six runs three of which were earned.

Dallas Stars defeat Anaheim Ducks 5-2. The Ducks are in a lot of trouble. Although they didn't look as bad as they did Thursday night, they just looked overmatched by the Stars. They couldn't keep the puck notching 13 giveaways and had eight less shots on goal than the Stars. With the Stars leading 2-0 in the series, they look to clinch the series at home next week.

Columbus Crew defeats Chivas USA 4-3. The lights couldn't stay one, players were ejected from the field which seemed to be painted yellow. The Crew took a 3-1 lead on a Robbie Rogers goal in the 71st minute when the Chivas stormed back to tie the game with a goal by Jesse Marsch in the 72nd minute and one by Paulo Nagamrua in the 78th minute. The Crew got the winning goal by Rogers in the 82nd minute. There were 20 fouls, three yellow cards and two red cards called on Chivas.

LA Avengers defeat Utah Blaze 79-62. It's amazing what keeping a quarterback upright will do. Making his Staples Center debut, Avengers quarterback Tim Hicks went 18 for 29 passing with 284 yards and eight touchdowns helping the Avengers come off a four-game losing streak. Another thing that helps is playing the Blaze which hasn't yet notched a victory.

Golden State Warriors defeat LA Clippers 122-116. The Warrior go back to a tie for eighth with the Denver Nuggets, and the Clippers lose another one.

Tonight's Action

San Antonio Spurs at LA Lakers. This game determines who is guaranteed to get at least the #2 seed in the playoffs. Yes the Spurs are old and seem to be stumbling towards the finish line, but never put anything past the Spurs. They will rip your heart out and eat it at center court with a shit-eating smile. 12:30 pm ABC 7, AM 570 KLAC.

San Diego Padres at LA Dodgers. The rubber game of the series has Chad Billingsley pitching against Padres Greg Maddux. Either two trends will come to fruition: the Dodgers and Padres winning every other game in the series or the Dodgers beating the Padres when a pitcher not named Peavy is on the mound.
