New Old 97's & Murry Hammond's Solo Album

Everyone's (or certainly my) favorite country/rock band from Dallas, The Old 97's, are back with a new album due out May 13th! I heard the news and got out my Alive and Wired cd (Disc Two is the best, in my opinion) and sang along in the car this past weekend. Before the new album, entitled Blame It On Gravity, hits the shelves, however, bespectacled bassist Murry Hammond's solo album I Don’t Know Where I’m Going But I’m On My Way will be available April 21st. Hypeful tells us you can listen to Hammond's album in its entirety on his Last.fm site, (it is decidedly more country and sounds great - I love "I Believe, I Believe"), and also has a new, but not spectacular, track posted from Blame It On Gravity, called "Dance With Me". But the band's website reveals they'll be performing the new song live on Jay Leno on Thursday April 24th, and my guess is it will be much better live, as I tend to feel about most of their stuff. They'll also be in L.A. on June 19th at Crash Mansion.

While the Old 97's are very much loved and revered in Austin,TX, they are actually a Dallas band.

Thank you for catching that. Guess SXSW is still on the brain...??

For those who don't have Alive and Wired and would like it (which should be everyone who doesn't have it!), you can get it as a premium from UCLAradio.com until the 20th of this month as part of their pledge drive!
