LAst Night's Action: Angel's Granny Sparks Victory

Napoli Hits a Granny

LA Angels defeat Cleveland Indians 9-5. Mike Napoli hits his first grand slam in the second inning to get things rolling for the Angels. They didn't need to rely on a closer this time. But I'm sorta pissed at them since because of them the Dodgers game was blacked out on MLB.tv.

Arizona Diamondbacks defeat LA Dodgers 4-3. Things looked good when the Dodgers got a 1-0 lead, the first time they led in the series, but I think we all knew it wouldn't last. Hiroki Kuroda gave up four runs, two of which were earned. I'll say it again. The Dodgers need solid pitching to overcome their offensive deficiencies. They didn't get good pitching this series hence they got swept.

Notable Notes

A day after winning the National Championship, Tennessee forward "http://sports.espn.go.com/wnba/news/story?id=3338047" target="new">Candice Parker was the first pick of the WNBA draft going to the LA Sparks. After guiding the Lady Vols to two championships, Parker will now join Lisa Leslie who sat out this season on maternity leave.

Staying on the college beat, it sound definitive that USC's OJ Mayo will be headed to the NBA after only one year with the Trojans. It is yet unknown what UCLA's Kevin Love, Darren Collison and Russell Westbrook will do.

Don't look now but the Baltimore Orioles are the best team in baseball. The Kansas City Royals are the second best team in the American League.

Tonight's Action

Dallas Stars at Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks look to bring the Stanley Cup back to Southern California. But their first series against the Stars will be pretty tough. The Ducks only went 3-5 in the season series against the Stars, but they look ready to turn it up another gear for the playoffs. 7:00 pm FSN Prime Ticket, Versus, AM 830 KLAA.

LA Lakers at LA Clippers. Let's consider this a warm up game before the Lakers host the two teams ahead of them in the Western Conference: New Orleans Hornets and San Antonio Spur. Expect this game to be a laugher like the last three were. 7:30 pm, TNT, AM 570 KLAC (Lakers Radio), AM 710 KSPN (Clippers Radio)
