Ema And The Ghosts

Nobody better covers the LA indie music scene than the local blogs, which include LA-Underground, Radio Free Silver Lake, Rock Insider, You Set The Scene, Squaregirls, Aquarium Drunkard, Classical Geek Theatre, Amateur Chemist, and the now-defunct Buzz Bands. Besides spotlighting up-and-coming artists and posting concert photos, many of those blogs regularly present shows -- Radio Free Silverlake's Let's Independent! have included The Happy Hollows (MySpace), The Deadly Syndrome (MySpace), Castledoor (MySpace), and Everest (MySpace).

Late last month, LA-Underground presented an epic seven artist showcase with The Sweet Hurt (MySpace), Tenlons Fort (MySpace), Ema And The Ghosts (MySpace), Avi Buffalo (MySpace), Amnion (MySpace), No Little Kindness (MySpace), and Cobra Lilies (MySpace), at Mr. T's Bowl (MySpace) in Highland Park.

The feeling of love being in the air was never more appropriate that night, especially with the cross-pollination of artists doing guest performances on each other's sets (Eli from The Monolators performing with The Sweet Hurt and Aaron from Amnion performing with Tenlons Fort). And then there are the Cobra Lilies, a supergroup consisting of bandmembers from The Monolators as well as Jax from Rock Insider, that features tap and clog dancing during their performances. It was certainly a fitting capper to a memorable night.

Special thanks to The Sweet Hurt, Tenlons Fort, Ema And The Ghosts, Avi Buffalo, Amnion, No Little Kindess, Cobra Lilies, LA-Underground, and Mr. T's Bowl.
