LAst Night's Action: Not Enough Love for UCLA

It Was One of Those Days

Memphis Tigers defeat UCLA Bruins 78-63. Memphis was too much for UCLA. While the Bruins kept it manageable for most of the game, the Tigers turned up the gear in the final five minutes to send the Bruins home. Darren Collison scored only two points before fouling out in the second half, and the Bruins couldn't get the ball to Kevin Love. Memphis will face Kansas Monday night in the championship game.

San Diego Padres defeat LA Dodgers 4-1. Padres ace and reigning Cy Young winner Jake Peavy threw a complete game giving up only two hits and one unearned run. The Padres meanwhile gave the Dodgers death by papercuts by scoring their four runs off of Brad Penny on six singles in the first inning. Rafael Furcal hit a triple off of Peavy in the fourth inning and scored when Josh Bard caught Russell Martin's foul ball and slid into the Padres dugout.

Anaheim Ducks defeat LA Kings 4-3. The Ducks got two goals from Teemu Salanne to send the Kings looking forward to Monday. The Kings look to get the first pick in the draft lottery Monday, while the Ducks will play one last game against the Coyotes before heading off into the playoffs. Again. This is the second consecutive 100 point season for the Ducks.

LA Angels over Texas Rangers 2-1. After being embarrassed at the A last night, the Angels got their revenge. Jered Weaver pitched seven scoreless innings while the Kevin Millwood pitched a complete game giving up two runs on 12 hits. Yeah. Not a lot of run manufacturing going on there, but just enough for a win.

Chivas USA defeats Real Salt Lake 3-1. Chivas came out against a rebuilt and tougher Real Salt Lake and fought a tough match. Sacha Kljestan scored a goal in the 32nd minute and assisted in Atiba Harris' goal in the 55th minute to give Chivas a win on their home opener.

Tonight's Action

LA Lakers at Sacramento Kings. The pesky Kings will look to play spoiler to division leading Lakers. 6:00 pm KCAL 9, AM 570 KLAC.

Houston Rockets at LA Clippers. It's Elton Brand poster night! And conversely the Clippers look to play spoiler to the Rockers. 6:30 pm KTLA 5, AM 710 KSPN.
