Kind of gives a new meaning to that old poem about beans being musical.

Many of the songs were about cooking your beans, or not letting your beans burn (Listen to Professor Longhair if you don't believe there are entire songs about beans).

Z' Haricot = Zydeco!

That is one of my favorite etymologies!

Sorry, we got a little off-topic there.

...We will now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

Okra!

Here's one - you know where the word Zydeco comes from?

Not so strange, spicy 'po folks' food, plus the whole Catholic lentin thing.

Do you know what the African word "gumbo" is?

Thanks for the heads-up! I make a pretty mean vegan gumbo - strange how cajun food lends itself to that style of cooking.

It surprised me how much this drink tasted like Thin Mint Cookies. maybe next I'll replicate Samoas with caramel and coconut liquer...

That sounds amazing Elise! Kind of like chocolate mints with a buzz.

Cats always get a contact high. No need to get them stoned.

If any laists are going to be in the area of Plummer Park in Weho tomorrow any time from 1-4pm. Look for "The Progressives Pic-nic". I'll be making a pot of Vegan Sausage Jambalaya. All are welcome.
