6,000 People Say Goodbye to Firefighter Lovrien

An estimated 6,000 people are Downtown this morning for the procession and memorial services for Los Angeles Firefighter Brent Lovrien, who was killed in the line of duty last week in Westchester near LAX. Firefighters, likely representing almost every agency from around the state, have come to Los Angeles to show their support.

It is being aired live on KTLA and on their website. Also airing online is KNBC, KCBS/KCAL and KABC.

For those not participating in the events this morning, but are downtown, street closures should open by around 1:00 p.m. All the logistical information and more about today's events can be found on yesterday's post about it.

To make an online condolance, you can so so on the LAFD blog. Donations in memory of Lovrien's and for assistance to injured LAFD engineer Guzman's family can be made online or via mail (scroll down to the bottom of the link).

Update: Actually, it is almost being aired wall to wall on TV (NBC, KTLA, ABC, FOX). KCBS and KCAL unfortunately opted to run Rachael Ray and a Jury Duty show instead.
