yeah, i can't remember ever seeing a person receive a ticket for parking along that strip; including parking in front of that "driveway." Who knows, it's worth a challenge because the street cannot afford to have any less parking spots!

Many cars have been parking in this spot throughout the day since i received the ticket. and none of them have been cited. i've taken photos of those cars as well. the only signage on the street is friday street cleaning from 12-3pm. and just a reminder, this curb has been grey since september 2001 and i have never received a ticket there. i've also seen parking enforcement whiz by it, not stopping to ticket any car parked there. and if this should be a red zone then LADT needs to make an obvious red zone like in the other photos.

And that definitly looks like a painted over red curb, which sucks for you because if thats the case the parking bureau has no remorse for excuses, no matter how valid it seems.
Hey, just be happy you got away with it for so long if that is the case... ok easier said than done. I've had my share of screw overs by them, thats for sure.

It's hard to tell from this photo, and aomw of you seem to know the spot. But I used to know people who would spray-paint red zones they thought were unfair grey or white.

Then the city would re-paint, and they would re-paint, until the paint was 4 inches thick.

hey LAist thanks for the post! this is great! just a few remarks to add in order to clarify some things.

1) the car was not parked 18 inches away from the curb. this was shot with a 24mm lense which distorts the image. the ford taurus does not look that sleek in person. this is how far i was:

2) the black car on the opposite side of the street is actually closer to the cross street, and the red zone on that side starts about 8-12 feet further back from where the taurus was parked

3) no driveway here. plus a car can be parked at the very edge of a driveway/curb. that's not illegal. in fact blocking a private driveway isn't even one of possible selections to check on the ticket. people block our driveway all the time. we've called LADT and they've said, "call a tow truck. we don't handle that."

http://www.flickr.com/photos/discarted/2385485919/in/set-72157604372068892/

4) the ticket was contested and is being reviewed. updates will be posted.

entire set:

thanks for the post...

i am familiar with this very same parking spot in the fez. The driveway, or curb, in the picture actually just leads into a brick wall for an autorepair shop, there is no driveway there! People park there every day, so unless the ticket was for a) street sweeping, or b) parking too far from the curb, the enforcement on this spot seems pretty odd.
