Possible Homicide Ends in 101 Freeway Accident*

101 Freeway shooting leads to accident and murder/homicide investigation*UPDATE: 4:30 p.m. After six hours the 101 eastbound at the 405 was reopened. No witnesses have come forward with information about the incident, which is believed to be a car-to-car shooting that took place following a dispute. Police are asking for any witnesses to come forward to help the investigation. This is the second post-argument car-to-car shooting on the 101 in the Valley this year.

*UPDATE 10:40 a.m.:The eastbound 101 at the 405 has been shut down by the CHP as they investigate the incident.

The Daily News reports that the call came in around 8:15 this morning that a vehicle had flipped over on the freeway, and officers "determined that the white sedan had drifted into the sound wall, then veered across all eastbound lanes and rolled over" per Cecil Manresa of the LAFD.

Inside the car was a Latino man in his late 20s with a gunshot wound to the head, and the passenger side window was shattered.

According to the police, the "paramedics took the man to a UCLA Medical Center, where he died."


A solo-vehicle rollover accident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol this morning as a possible homicide after the sole occupant was discovered in the vehicle with a gunshot wound.

The accident took place eastbound on the 101 Freeway at Van Nuys Blvd.

According to the LAFD, "the victim was approximately a 25-30 year old male and was driving a 4 door sedan."
