Classical Pick of the Week: Baroque, Bach, Biltmore

Classical music does not have to be played in a traditional space, so why not a classic downtown hotel? This Wednesday at 8 p.m., Il Fondamento, one of Europe’s premier period-instrument ensembles, visits the Millennium Biltmore Hotel's Crystal Ballroom to play all four of Bach’s Orchestral Suites, urtext style. The site-specific concert is part of The Da Camera Society's Chamber Music in Historic Sites series (concert details here).
Also: For more Baroque music, on Thursday at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Los Angeles Philharmonic presents Europa Galante as part of their Baroque Variation series. The program includes mostly Vivaldi with a spattering of Leclair and Purcell.
