TV Junkie: Tuesday

HBO LogoIs HBO really in trouble? (Speaking of HBO, check out this great movie from 1983 about the creation of the HBO Theater opening sequence). Business Week asks if the premium channel is in trouble now that "The Sopranos" are gone (also "The Wire", "deadwood", "Rome", etc.) with nothing on the horizon to step up. The fact is that Showtime, FX, and even AMC are coming up with more compelling shows as of this last year than the flagship of premium, HBO. It's going to take more than "Entourage" to keep HBO going and "Tell Me You Love Me", "John of Cincinatti", and "In Treatment" were or are duds.

8:00pm Autism: The Musical HBO - Documentary about a theater program for autistic kids.

9:00pm Frontline: Bush's War PBS/KCET - Part 2 of 2. Per yesterday's TV Junkie - TV Junkie Pick O' the Night

9:00pm Dancing With the Stars ABC - 2 couples are eliminated.

9:00pm Last Restaurant BBCA - New!

10:00pm Jericho ABC - Season finale. Did that seem like a short season to you?

10:00pm The Riches FX - An episode called Friday Night Lights

11:30pm The Late Show With David Letterman CBS - Kate Bosworth, John Witherspoon, the Raveonettes perform

12:05am Jimmy Kimmel LIVE ABC - The first two eliminated celebrities from "Dancing With the Stars," Roseanne Barr(?), emo alert: Panic! at the Disco performs

So Tom...did you check out The Riches?

Why can't anyone spell Cincinnati correctly?

Also, I'm in Love with John Adams and In Treatment right now.

watch EVERY south park episode for FREE onlINE!!!!! (this is not spam)

thanks BrianneG! I shoulda just called it Cincy. The problem that HBO has is that "John Adams" is a short series and that not enough people like "In Treatment" of which I've watched several episodes and thought it had some amazing performances.

xTx - yeah, I watched "The Riches" last week and enjoyed it, particularly the way it was edited, it was pretty good and I'll keep watching.

I was thinking about how I haven't watched much HBO lately. Flight of the Conchords and Entourage are all great shows, but man, they have short seasons.

If they want to make their money back, start producing new episodes of Arrested Development.

In Treatment has been excellent.

So true Zach!!!

LZN, I think "In Treatment" is a great concept for a show but it's not one that will really sustain HBO - also, it's viewership has reportedly been very poor
