March Madness at Busby's: Not So Mad

it's

I've been checking out college hoops at various bars, like The Parlor and Q's and Barney's Santa Monica, so I felt it only appropriate that I hit up another Santa Monica sports bar: Busby's. I went Saturday around 4pm to ensure I would get a great seat for the UCLA game at 6:30.

Um, Busby's was about as exciting as watching the game in my living room. Okay, the food was better than my living room, but that's about it. Chicken tenders with buffalo sauce, two thumbs up. Spinach and artichoke dip, excellent. People watching... Uh... I literally do not have anything to write about, because there was literally no one there.

oh yeah, it's still empty

I'm not really sure what happened. UCLA was playing Texas A&M in round two of the tourney, which has provided enough drama and upsets to last for the next three years. I figured people would be coming out of the woodwork to cheer on the Bruins. Maybe they did. I can just tell you, they didn't go to Busby's. I'm not sure where they were. In the douchebag aisle at Q's? If anyone knows, please tell me so I don't ever make this mistake again.

I apologize for even posting this, but it's for the sake of completion. Malingering's March Madness Sports Bar Tour marches on.

and pretty dead over here too

Wow that's so sad. Were those pictures taken when Busby's was closed? All those empty chairs.

no, they were taken DURING THE GAME.

Wow, that place used to be the Zion of general douchebaggery on the westside. How the mighty have fallen.

Dude, us students go to Palomino's in Westwood for $5 pizzas!

But we used to always go to BrewCo to watch the games until they got rid of the $3 beer of the month a while ago. Now they can just suck it. There just as pricey now as O'Hara's.

Better just to buy a two-four and get wasted in the apt with buddies.

The Bruins need to stop clinching games like this, it's not good for my cardiovascular health.

Strange, when I lived across the street at Berkeley St. and Santa Monica Blvd. about 5 years ago they were always packed.

I guess the neighbors started complaining about them taking all the street parking and SM started requiring permit only parking.

I'm not surprised. It was a bitch to park around there after they opened up.
