There's Green Business Networking, there's LA Green Drinks and now there is EcoTuesday beginning tonight. Simply put, the monthly event works like this: eco-minded people gather at a bar or restaurant, introduce themselves, listen to a guest speaker and then mingle and network. Tonight's speaker is John McPherson, director of Green Depot, a Santa Monica based non-profit that promotes the use of sustainable energy.
Tonight's event takes place at Citrus at Social from 7 to 10 p.m. and is usually $10-20, but tonight's inaugural event is free. So far, tonight's attendee list includes representatives from the Coalition for Clean Air, Conscious River, Eco Gift Expo and many other organizations. EcoTuesday started in San Francisco in 2007 and is spreading to many other cities across the country.

EcoTuesday sounds like such a great opportunity to meet other eco-friendly people and learn from each other. It's a shame I missed the first one. I encourage business owners to check out openeco.org. Businesses can plug in their energy consumption and compare them with other businesses within their industry in efforts to reduce their carbon footprints. In the mean time, I'm going to mark EcoTuesdays on my calendar.
