Blood Hounds

Remember that scene in I Am Legend where we see a gas station selling a regular gallon for $6.63. Well if we're lucky those prices won't hit us until 2012, along with vampire zombies.

In the area baptized as Hel-Mel (Heliotrope and Melrose) you'll find this amazing mural. In it the major oil companies are depicted as blood thirsty hyenas. Appropriate for the area as it is the unofficial Bicycle District of LA. Well at least of East Hollywood (story and map continued below photo gallery)

It stands at about 12 feet tall and about 50 feet wide. In the midst of the oil wells dripping blood you'll see the tags of the artists, weaving in and out of the Disney Horror show in display here. No word yet from Whoopi and Cheech Marin on their stance on big oil.

In other news a Hyena is not a canine (making the title of this article incorrect) and bikes are the way to go. Hakuna Matata y'all.

Cool mural, but Heliotrope and Melrose are nowhere NEAR East Los Angeles. You'll need to bike about 15 miles to the east to reach East Los.

Very nice mural...now, let's work on our geography.

Yes, East Hollywood this is but where in the world did Deepfry get East Los?
