Developing: Fire at Warner Center*

A Fire at the Warner Center in Woodland Hills destroyed a condo building under constructionUpdate, 3:07 p.m.: LAFD is reporting the fire as 'accidental,' sparked by a welder's torch. Earlier, one commenter points towards a sub-contractor

Update, 10:17 a.m.: The fire was put out at 10:05 a.m. with 200 firefighters responding to the scene. The tentative address for the incident is actually at 21301 Erwin St., according to the LAFD. No injuries have been reported and the Daily News reports no cause has been determined yet.

The good news here is that the Warner Center fire this morning on the 6200 block of Canoga Ave. in Woodland Hills is a condominium building under construction and not a building where people were working, save for the possibility of construction workers at the scene.

About 100 firefighters were sent to the fire that broke at 8:43 a.m. this morning according to Brian Humphrey at the Los Angeles Fire Department in an e-mail alert. He told KCBS that the fire is burning from the top floor and the structure will likely be a complete loss.

Also in the San Fernando Valley: A 13 year-old male was struck by full-sized pickup near his school in Pacoima this morning at 7:45 a.m. He was taken to Children's Hospital via an air ambulance.

I recommend digging a little deeper. Helix Electric Inc. is the electrical subcontractor. They have a reputation for cutting corners and doing shoddy work. Electricians on the scene reported the fire may have been caused by "sparks".

Newshound, your comment makes no sense...

I know nothing about Helix Electric...but at this stage of construction, if the building did not yet have a functioning power system (and from what I've read/heard they had not even gotten to drywall), whatever work Helix Electric did was not "live"...

"Sparks" fits right in with reports of the fire being caused by a welder...

I'm not trying to defend anyone...just simply saying that your post sounds inflammatory!
