Vroman's Voted #1 Bookstore in Nation

While many mourn the loss of stalwart indie bookshops like Dutton's, many may want to celebrate the fact that LA (County, at least) is home to the nation's best bookstore, as deemed by Publisher's Weekly.

Pasadena's 114-year-old Vroman's has been given the top spot, and is thriving in its Colorado Boulevard home, with no signs of falling prey to the big box bookstores and online buying. Now their staff are proudly displaying badges reading "Bookseller of the Year" reports the Pasadena Star News, and patrons don't seem to be surprised that their favorite local bookshop is getting national attention.

Fans of Vroman's flock to top-notch author events and signings, and love the way the store works with its community of readers by bringing them the selection of titles they want and liaising them with other events in the city, like the annual LA Times Festival of Books and, this month, the Esotouric "Pasadena Confidential" tour.

Publisher's Weekly will official honor Vroman's on May 29th in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, stop by and say hi and see why Vroman's is the best in the country for books.
