It's World Water Week!

964550_glass_of_water.jpg Did you know it's World Water Week? Yup, a whole week to celebrate the stuff that comes out of your tap (and if you're an Angeleno, apparently it's pretty tasty stuff!). Lucky for us we don't have to think too much about where our water comes from, even in the worst So Cal drought conditions. That's not the case for millions of impoverished people around the world, and so restaurants across the nation have decided to take action and do something.

All this week (the event ends Saturday, March 22nd) restaurants participating in The Tap Project will be offering their tap water for a $1 fee (the stuff you would normally get for free). Proceeds will go to UNICEF, which will use the money to get clean, safe water to the world's children.

There are a ton of participating restaurants in the Los Angeles area, including Charcoal, Sonora Cafe, AOC, Angelini Osteria, Cobras & Matadors, Hugo's West Hollywood, Daily Grill, Craft, and many, many more. The organization's website has a nifty map you can use to track your favorites. They pulled off the event last year in New York only, and it was such a success they decided to expand to cities across the country. So when you're dining out this week, order up a glass of LA tap, and feel good that your dollar is being well spent.

Bad timing, now that we know about all the pharmaceuticals in our tap water!
