As a true devotee, I feel it's my duty to spread the word about the criminally overlooked Battlestar Galactica. You may be thinking that a science-fiction show is not for you, but give it a few episodes and you will be hooked. Under much of the cultural radar, Katee Sackhoff is delivering one of the fiercest, most heartbreaking performances in recent television history. Atonement is a very good movie, but it's also proof of how difficult it is to adapt a great novel. The same goes for I Am Legend (except for the very good movie part; Legend sucked). Southland Tales confirmed what I always believed about Donnie Darko: there's no there there.

Honestly, I can't defend Greek on intellectual grounds. It's exactly what it appears to be: a silly, sanitized version of college life. Still--and I'm almost ashamed to say this--I love it. Most of the credit for that goes to its winning cast, particularly Spencer Grammer and Jacob Zachar as a pair of mismatched siblings. With all the movies in need of the Criterion treatment, I'm a bit nonplussed by the decision to go with The Ice Storm. I'm not sure I've even thought about it since first seeing it ten years ago. Why is straight-to-DVD crap like Conspiracy on this list? Because Gary Cole is the fucking man, that's why! On this matter, I will brook no dissent.
