If you haven't heard their infectious single "That's Not My Name" burning up LA radio stations, you will soon enough. The Ting Tings, the latest UK import, brought their carefree blend of electro/dance/pop duo to Echo Park's Rec Center Studio in what was their first (and most likely of many) "proper" show in Los Angeles Tuesday night. The Rec Center was packed to see the Tings, a band that at this point really only has thew previously mentioned single to their name (at least here in the US). But that did not matter to this crowd, all that mattered was the quality and freshness of their music.
The hype surrounding this duo has steadily been growing since their single made it's way across the Atlantic. The duo, made up of Katie White on vocals and guitar and Jules De Martino on drums, brought a great, albeit short 7-song set to the tiny Rec Centre Studio Stage Tuesday night.

Opening with their current hit "Great DJ" another electro tinged rock song, the duo got the crowd moving and dancing right off the bat. Their set was great mix of energy and fun and even slowed in the middle for a slower downtempo track. It was over almost as soon as it started and before you knew it they were closing with "That's Not My Name". White is a joy to watch as she leads the duo through their set, her energy and confidence on stage are contagious as it is apparent she enjoys herself on stage. So often new bands are timid and stiff on stage and White was definitely neither.

It is hard to evaluate a band that has yet to release a LP stateside but there is no doubt that when it does drop it will validate the various claims and praise that has been heaped upon this group. They are a group worth watching and following over the next year.
