Here's Looking At You, Hollywood... and La Brea

A rendering of the Madrone, which will be built at Hollywood and La Brea
Last night was the unveiling of Madrone's architecture and all 44 of the floor plans for the 180-unit development to potential condo buyers (Curbed was there too). Ranging from around $400K to over $1-million, the Madrone's primo Hollywood and La Brea spot is hot, considering that it is in a transit friendly neighborhood/corridor, LAXART will be curating outdoor art and the complex's first floor will be retail (some hopefuls speculate that one tenant will be Trader Joe's).
John Laing Urban, the homebuilder, expects to see Madrone open in early 2009 and sales reservations began last night (take a peak below to see their vision of what the units will look like).
Then, next week, Curbed LA and Laing's Metro Collection will launch an online, urban trivia competition which will run through April 25. The culmination ends on May 8th in a "Jeopardy-themed showdown" between Hollywood and the Westside (where they plan other developments). And does the first place winner get a condo? No, no, no, we wish. However, knowing your area's history could get you a MacBookAir, Southwest Airlines tix, an iPhone or other prizes. Prizes or not, we just think Los Angeles nerd quizzes are fun in general!
