This is where Digg got its start | Use the Google map to zoom in and play!

17 million people get their news monthly via Digg.com, a powerhouse social news site where the readers vote, ahem, digg, on stories, eventually pushing the popular and important ones to the homepage.

And in 2004, it all started here in Los Angeles in the Westside neighborhood of Mar Vista according to a CNN Money Business 2.0 report. Digg founder, Kevin Rose began the site in his apartment abut the 405 freeway, a few blocks south of the 10, which happens to be one of the busiest freeway intersections in the country. Digg is now located in San Francisco's Potrero Hill.

The feature also tells us where other mega web 2.0 sites launched. CNN even hunted down Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's dorm room at Harvard. Stalkers.

I used to live a few blocks down the street -- amazing what can be going on in your neighbor's apartment.

That's so cool! It'd be interesting if they did this for more sites.

Umm, my blog started in a roach-infested shit hole in Mar Vista, Venice and Centinela.

the basically defunt Sherman Oaks blog started at Woodman and Moorpark!
