This is last Friday as reported by LAist Featured Photos contributor Jonathan Alcom: "A gallon of regular gasoline priced at 3.99 at a Unocal gas station on Pico Bl and Barrington in West Los Angeles on Friday March 7, 2008 as surging oil prices jumped to a new record above $106 Friday. This gas station was about 40 cents higher than other gas stations in the area."

This is today, as reported by Mark Lacter at LABizObserved: "Get ready for $4-a-gallon gasoline - if not this week, then soon. The government's just-released survey shows that the average price of regular in L.A. is $3.524, which I believe is an all-time high and compares with $3.060 for the week of Feb. 4. Many of us are already paying a good deal more. Oil, meanwhile surged above $108 a barrel in today's trading..."

Last week in high gas prices: $9.38/gallon in Brentwood, oops!
