Most Awkward Moment in LA Broadcast History

KNBC Broadcaster: "Well Ed, is it one of these matters where the Kenyans and Ethiopians, let's be honest here, they see a white guy out front and they don't take him seriously?"

Ed: ..........................................

Cue circus music.

While we're not sure who this particular broadcaster is, here's an earlier press release from the event's owner, Devine Racing:

NBC’s Fred Roggin, L.A. Marathon broadcast veteran Toni Reavis (who has broadcast all 23 races in L.A.) and two-time L.A. Marathon winner Nancy Ditz will once again anchor Channel 4’s telecast. A special stage will be constructed at the beginning of the race near the globe at Universal Studios Hollywood. Two-time LA Marathon winner Bob Molinatti will cover the wheelchair race, while Ed Eyestone and Juli Henner will be doing color commentary for the male and female races, respectively. KNBC will also have a number of reporters stationed along the route.

It wasn't Fred (we know his voice), Nancy, or Juli. Bob wasn't covering the men's foot race. Ed was the other guy in the video. Unless it was a reporter, the smart money is on Toni (again, just a guess). If it was him, his bio would indicate there wasn't anything really bad meant by this (he's traveled to both Kenya and Ethiopia to provide news coverage that's more about love than money) ... he just stuck his running-shoe clad foot deep into his mouth.

We originally noticed this over on Deadspin.

UPDATE: Thanks to the glory that is Red Lasso, we've been able to pull up a longer (three minute) clip. It seems that Toni was the guy, and he tried to recover and spin his comments with some support from Nancy and Fred. Full clip after the jump.
