Pro Football Returns to LA

The Los Angeles Avengers kicked off this weekend with a comeback win over the New Orleans VooDoo, marking the ninth straight season we've had pro football back in the City of Angels.

Last year the Avengers finished second in the American Western division and won their wild card round of the Arena Football League playoffs. This year, coach Ed Hodgkiss thinks they ... could ... go ... all ... the ... way.

Against the VooDoo, LA avenged an early 13-0 deficit and stormed back for a 59-42 win thanks to their defense -- a rare tactic in this scoreboard-busting league.

Besides lots of high-flying action on the field, the AFL provides a fun environment in the stands. Tomorrow, we'll share some images of LA's more colorful funs.

If you want to see some games live and in-person, the Avengers have seven more shoot-outs scheduled this year at Staples Center. Click here for the full schedule.

Great post. I think I'm finally gonna have to quit mourning the demise of the short-lived XFL and go set me some Arena Football goodness.

This actually does look like a lot of fun and comes from someone who hardly ever watches football.
