Lot 44: New Coffee Concept Opening Downtown This Spring

Lot 44 Coffee opens in DowntownI hope you haven't had enough of the Great Coffee Debate that has been ROCKING the Southland ever since hip joints like LA Mill and Intelligentsia have hit the scene. (Although you all know that we prefer a cup of the working man's brew, Dunkin' Donuts coffee, over here.) A new coffeehouse, Lot 44, is set to hit downtown sometime this spring.

Downtown blogger Angelenic has the, um, scoop from founder Ariel Graham:

“We will be the first ‘cup bar’ in Southern California. Each cup you buy (of single origin or blend), will be brewed to order exactly how you want it — without attitude. The cup menu is varied to satisfy diverse palates, offering about ten choices of organic, fair trade, pesticide-free brews from small lots as well as larger coffee estates,” she says. Graham's LinkedIn page also reiterates her commitment to doing something different with this coffee gig: "I look forward to doing coffee L.A. style with a focus on sustainable, shade grown, organic and small farm gems, fabulous pastries and handmade artisan chocolates."

“It’s how we do coffee in L.A.”

Lot 44 apparently hope to replace attitude with a greener outlook (they will be using eco-friendly serveware). The cafe will also have all the requisite coffee-shop accoutrements like Wi-Fi The website isn't up yet, but Downtown residents are surely happy about this new hang-out coming their way.

What's up with those new Dunkin' Donuts commercials where they mock Starbucks-style coffee ordering (with the funny cup size names.) That was tired 15 years ago!

Does that mean Lot44 will have a Clover?

I would imagine they would if they're doing single cups, but they could also do the old fashioned way with a press or the single cup brew basket thing (forget what that's called.) I'm definitely looking forward to this!

I am sure Lot 44 Coffee is going to be the biggest thing to hit Downtown.

I visited their website and noticed they are doing something called "coffee by the cup" which no one else is doing. I am not sure if they will offer standard "drip" coffee, but the coffee by the cup is going to be something that everyone will enjoy.

I am excited about their opening on May 5th, I know I will be there to taste the new idea they came up with...hope to see you all there too!!
