THEATRE
You have a hand at commenting on the Theatre of NOTE’s play selection this week and next. NOTEwood is their comprehensive series of public readings featuring new, original works. The 2009 season will be chosen from the 30 scripts selected to be read aloud at the year’s NOTEwood reading – but there’s a talk back session after each reading.

FILM
Paging all Agatha Christie fans: Murder on the Orient Express hits the big screen tonight in Sherman Oaks. The murder mystery with Belgian detective Hercule Poirot was directed by Sidney Lumet, and the cast list includes some unbelievable names on board for this train ride: Ingrid Bergman, Vanessa Redgrave, Albert Finney, Sean Connery, Jacqueline Bisset, John Gielgud, Lauren Bacall.

The New Beverly Cinema shows a double feature of Alan J. Pakula films: The Parallax View and Klute. The Parallax View stars Warren Beatty as a reporter who notices that reporters who were present during the assassination of a prominent U.S. senator are dying mysteriously. And Klute stars Donald Sutherland in the title role as a small-town detective who searches for a missing friend – with a prostitute Jane Fonda as his only kluw.

FILM
REDCAT hosts “The Blindness Series” by Vietnamese artist Tran T. Kim-Trang. She tackled the subject of blindness and its metaphors on film, and tonight all eight will be screened. Her topics include hysterical blindness, cosmetic eye surgery, surveillance technology and vision and sexuality.

CLASSICAL
The Avalon String Quartet plays the Geffen tonight. On the program are: Schubert’s Quartettsatz in C Minor, D. 703, Serenade for String Trio in C Major, Op. 10 and
Beethoven’s String Quartet in A Minor, Op. 132.
