Walk Cheerfully screens tonight in the Cinefamily Asian Sunday series. Directed by Yasujiro Ozu, the 1930 film blends multiple genres and makes reference to many pictures of Hollywood's silent era while its layers of plot unfurl.

Special guests Ann Hampton Callaway, Mark Murphy, and Janis Siegel join musical director Patrice Rushen and vocalists Ledisi and T.C. Carson for A Tribute to Ella. The Ella they're honoring is Ella Fitzgerald of course, in an evening of the sublime music and lyrics of "The First Lady of Song."

FILM (OPTION 2)
7 short films from the 60s and 70s from the London Film-Makers' Co-operative hit the screen tonight in Hollywood as part of SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT. A focus of the Co-op was the freedom to create and produce film in a supportive environment, and special attention paid to the physical production process of film-making.

COMEDY
The funny folks of Bang assemble to present some of their witty and wacky material in The Write Stuff: A Night of Twisted Sketch.

CLASSICAL
A free concert by the American Youth Symphony will include Bartok's Rumanian Folk Dances, Stravinsky's Pulcinella Suite, and Haydn's Symphony No. 101 ("London") conducted by Alexander Treger. A pre-concert talk is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. See some of LA's best young musicians for just the price of parking.
