Billo said he doesn't want to lynch Michelle YET. Presumably so long as she is sufficiently proud of America. I fear "patriotism" will be the "moral values" of this election.

Horribly off topic, I know.

Being one who for some reason went through an accredited j-school program, the one party consent law is nice, but here in California and most other states it's two party consent (tsk tsk Pellicano). Actually that's a great link, jrb, thanks.

When it comes to the Fox News phone calls, I generally picture Bill O'Reilly calling up some cheap $5 ho and demanding a scripted response to his liking. If anyone wants to fact-check O'Reilly et all at Fox, do you think he (or his bosses) care? No way, dude even said "I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama" last week with no repercussions.

Just to throw a wrench back at you jrb,

Phone calls can be recorded in most cases without the other party knowing under what is known as "one-party consent". As long as one of the two sides of the conversation has consented (ie the journalist) then it is legal.

If anyone is a legal expert on this matter please jump in here.

If you guys are pissed about jabs at pro-choice, direct some of your anger at JUNO...apparently, pro-life is as easy as whipping open the pennysaver...

A couple of problems I see here;

It is illegal to record a telephone conversation, unless you inform the person that they are being recorded, before any other conversation occurs.

This means that unless these pro life people recorded these conversations, we have to take their word for it that the conversations even took place. And if they did, they record them unbeknownst to the PP staffer, then they broke the law.

Considering the other things I've seen pro lifers feel justified in doing to support their cause.

I think I want more proof than one of them saying; "Here's what happened, take my word for it."

Good comments, all. It's often disturbing to see what some fringe campus groups/publications put out there, but it's even more frustrating when the extreme gets over-hyperbolized and then run over again.

Zach didn't choose his sources here -- there were no other sources in this instance (at the time, at least).

Which is part of the point. Fringe UCLA paper breaks story of scandal at Idaho Planned Parenthood. Funny if it's the Onion, perhaps. Instead, someone at the "Advocate" probably just scored themselves an internship at FoxNews.

awesome misinformation, just awesome. not only the sources, either.

minorities have disproportionately low access to reproductive health services. while the above phone conversation is quite offensive to think about, planned parenthood does way more than provide abortions. they provide affordable reproductive health services to everyone..I'd imagine to more people than they do abortions on.

and am i missing something with the last video? as a minor in this state you have the same reproductive rights as an adult: in that even if you were 16 you do not need to notify anyone, nor can the provider notify anyone if you were going to get an abortion. the rape/sexual assault clause only kicks in if the person in question is 12 or under, or if the medical professional has reason to believe that the parents were involved. which, it seems to me from the video linked above (which is fairly scant from the video), that as a 15 year old girl it doesn't matter. and the whole statutory rape thing..don't even get me started. i think unless the age difference was extreme, half the time it's being used to prosecute innocent people by parents and/or the partner who was too scared to admit it was truly consensual because of potential family/friend backlash.

btw, the advocate should be relabeled "anti-choice", because in the end, that is what it is all about. planned parenthood isn't about abortions at all...I love to have that place open as a choice to me because it is cheap and accessible for reproductive services in general..I don't have to wait a month for an appointment with my regular gyno and I can get a lot of the cost subsidized by the government. and this is coming from someone who hopes to never have an abortion and would most likely not consider it (with the exception of rape).
